The calling of a sparrow – Step by step towards eternity

When one is around ten or twelve years old, it is difficult to grasp all the meanings hidden in the words and symbols of the New Testament. However, at that age, I stumbled upon two passages: a) The Evangelist Matthew (Chapter 10, verses 29-31) writes: “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.”
b) The Evangelist Luke (Chapter 12, verses 6-7) says: “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are of more value than many sparrows.” These references are not to be taken literally. I thought that the Evangelists had written them out of excessive zeal and love. I believed that when a hunter is accurate in his aim, God does not intervene to save the partridge or the hare, let alone the sparrows.
